~Philosophy~
I'd like to welcome students of
all ages to my studio. I believe, there is no age limit for discovering
one's talent and passion towards music. All levels are welcome!
I do not believe in
student-stereotypes! In my opinion, each and every single student
deserves an individual attention. I try to develop personal relationship
with all of my students as I believe - that IS the key to OUR success.
My students' success is my success as well!
Having studied piano at the
Tbilisi State Conservatory in Republic of Georgia and the New England
Conservatory, I have experienced both "old-school" and "new-school"
approaches to piano playing, both of which have profoundly impacted the
way I play and teach. In my homeland, I studied under comparatively
strict teachers who encouraged me to master the Russian school of
playing. At New England Conservatory though, I felt encouraged to
develop my own, personal style of performing. Throughout my teaching
career, I began developing a pedagogy that mixes elements of both
schools, and I found that my students were quite receptive to it. In
studio lessons, I emphasize the importance acquiring a foundation -
learning an established tradition of piano performance practice while
simultaniously encouraging students to break away from that tradition to
some degree, to become artist-performers/innovators grounded in
tradition.
